*When R&B songstress K. Michelle dropped her latest single “Kim K,” many fans gave it the side-eye because she’s showering more unnecessary attention onto the reality TV star.
The single dropped last week, ahead of the release of her fourth studio album, Kimberly: The People I Used to Know. As BET noted, the soulstress keeps it 100 on the track as she addresses society’s hypocrisy that won’t let Black women be great but allows women like Kim Kardashian to flourish and profit from being “down” with black culture.
“Wish I could be a Kardashian, so I could be Black,” K. Michelle croons. “They ask if it’s real, I say it’s real fat/Don’t get caught up in facts, ‘cause ain’t s**t real/And ain’t s**t funny.”
Several bloggers and Kardashian fans have criticized the singer because they feel the song is shading the famous socialite. But K. Michelle fired back via Twitter on Monday (Dec. 4), explaining the context behind the song.
“I see some blogs trying to make My song ‘Kim K’ messy, lord if u only knew how fly I think she is!” she wrote. “The statement behind the song is black women are rarely given credit for our cultural trends and flyness.”

Truths can be spoken without a shade tree behind them. For ages Black women have been taught by society that our image isn’t good enough for mainstream or that we need to make changes. I believed them and made those SOME of those changes, only 2 regret it.

The older I got I started to see that women of other ethnicities were being accepted for and African American women were told no 2 big asses, cornrolls, long pointy finger nails(which was taking place before we were born-its tribal) and other cultural aesthetics.

I remember being told that I couldn’t wear braids by my Caucasian vocal coach to talent shows because I wouldn’t win because it wasn’t a polished look!

Also in the song I say I gotta fuck with Blac Chyna, because regardless of what you say she’s made a way for herself, and its crazy how when other people do what they do it’s classic but when we do it it’s ratchet.

The Judgmental are usually the ones who need the most judgment! Don’t shot the messenger, I just write life. I write about the world we are living in. My writing isn’t scripted it’s just facts. Which I never understood artist who don’t actual write.
