Faith Evans*The Los Angeles Times penned a retrospective piece titled “Bad Boy For Life,” which aims to look back at the music and controversies surrounding Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. R&B singer Faith Evans is profiled in the piece, she was once signed to Comb’s Bad Boy records, and is the widow of his best friend the Notorious B.I.G. She reflects on her late husband, who was gunned down in a drive-by in Los Angeles on the night of March 9, 1997.

“It was a whole lot of fun, I’m not going to lie. Everyday was something different,” said Faith of her Bad Boy memories. She also confessed that she does not blame the label for the “senseless” murder of Biggie.

“The only way you can look at it is tragic. Tragic and senseless,” she told the publication. “But I don’t think that situation was the result of being in the music business. It’s a little deeper than that. I think all the things that came with it definitely added to the hype of things. The whole media element, and people being able to say what they think and not be accurate.”

Faith also doesn’t blame anyone for the unjustified death of Tupac Shakur, who was killed a year earlier in a similar fashion.

“But the bottom line is it was two senseless tragedies that were the result of people not being good people. I can’t say the music business is the reason why. Losing my husband [is] something I think about every day. But I don’t blame that on Bad Boy — at all.”

Faith also revealed her reasons for leaving the label.

“I left for different reasons,” she says. “I felt like it was time for me to do something different, and at that time I wasn’t getting what I felt from the other end what I was putting in, as far as being dedicated. Puff wasn’t in that same place as far as being a record executive; he was dabbling in other things at the time.”
