*Luxury watch brand Cartier has recruited Oscar-winning director Sofia Coppola to direct a short film promoting the relaunch of its Panthere watch.
Starring in the film are Brooklyn and Amanda Sudano, daughters of the late disco icon Donna Summer.
Panthère watch was originally released in 1983 but went out of production in 2004. Cartier is bringing it back this June due to new demand from clients, according to Business of Fashion.
“I love the era when the Panthère debuted and I think of it as glamorous and sexy, and thought about films and the women of that era,” Coppola told BoF of the film’s inspiration, adding that she imagines the woman wearing the timepiece is “visiting LA and away from work, and is enjoying the sun, romance and her friends.”
The film will launch via social media and in select theaters in June, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In celebration of the Panthère watch, the company is hosting a party in L.A. on May 5. Details regarding its location and sure to be star-studded guest list remains under wraps.
