‘The Color Purple’s’ New Suge Avery, Jennifer Lopez Ain’t Yo ‘Mama’

color-lo*A new Suge Avery is gearing up to takeover where Jennifer Hudson leaves off once her run in the Broadway musical hit, “The Color Purple,” comes to an end. Playbill reports that beginning May 10, Heather Headley will step in to the role as the sultry jazz singer. The Tony and Grammy award-winning artist will join the likes of Danielle Brooks (OITNB) and British singer-songwriter Cynthia Erivo.

Heather got her start on Broadway debuting as Nala in the original Broadway cast of Elton John and Tim Rice’s “The Lion King” musical. Her “Color Purple” takeover marks her first appearance on Broadway since 2000, where she took home a Tony for her performance in “Aida.”

Many may remember Heather’s mesmerizing vocals belting out songs such as “In My Mind” and “Me Time.” If you don’t know… let’s just say that Ms. Headley is a far superior singer than Jennifer Lopez.

Jennifer LopezJ.Lo just dropped a song to remind all the young men that she’s known to court that she’s ain’t here to be his mama.

Her new track “Ain’t Your Mama,” comes just as the singer continues to enjoy the success of her hit NBC series “Shades of Blue” and her Las Vegas residency, and she’s still serving as an “American Idol” judge.

Already mother to twins Max & Emme, and quite possibly “playing mother to her really young, boyfriend Casper Smart, Jennifer’s new track is dropping new rules for everybody else.

On “Ain’t Your Mama,” Lopez sings about not doing a man’s laundry, and not spending her day in the kitchen whipping up meals for him. Basically, Jennifer is here for Jennifer, so dig it.

The track was produced by Dr. Luke, the same man who is embattled in a public sexual assault case with Kesha. She has accused him of rape and verbal and mental abuse.

Meghan Trainor offers vocals support on the track, which you can listen to it in full HERE and check out a sneak peek below:
