Sheryl Underwood Talks Meeting Muhammad Ali as a Child

Sheryl Underwood Remembers Meeting Muhammad Ali In Her Chicago Home
“The Talk” host Sheryl Underwood shares her personal story about meeting Muhammad Ali as a young child in her Chicago home when her mother wanted to convert the family to Islam. Underwood says:

“This man was in our house and the whole neighborhood was so excited…I was a little girl…I heard my relatives and neighbors say, ‘That’s Muhammad Ali.’  For me, Muhammad Ali was so American because–to speak to your right to object when your nation is doing something that you don’t agree with…[and] to still have great faith [and] lead the nation in a direction it needed to go. I would like for people to remember Muhammad Ali as a man who had great faith at a time when people were not comfortable with the faith that he had.”
