*Rapper Shawty Lo, best known for his 2007 song “Dey Know,” was killed in a fiery car wreck on I-285 in Atlanta early Wednesday morning, according to CBS News. He was 40.

The death of Shawty Lo, whose real name was Carlos Walker, was confirmed by his manager via Twitter. “My brother has passed he is no longer here but his spirit, his kind heart, and his music will live on Long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead.”

Police say Walker may have been the victim of a hit and run. They are still searching for the vehicle apparently involved in the wreck that fled the scene.

Police say one of the vehicles involved went over a guard rail and caught fire.

Walker’s vehicle, a 2016 Audi, struck a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire.

He was ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene. Two women also in the car with him were also injured and taken to the hospital, but their condition and identities are not known at this time.

Shawty Lo was a founding member of the hip-hop group D4L in 2003, as well as D4L Records.

In 2013, the rapper made headlines after an online petition sought to cancel Oxygen’s new reality series “All My Babies’ Mamas,” which was to follow Shawty Lo and the 10 mothers of his 11 children. The show never made it to air.
