*Gospel recording artist Latice Crawford hit the runway during New York Fashion Week for famed fashion designer Byron Lars Beauty Marks at Metropolitan West. Lars personally selected Crawford for his new collection, “Exclusive Inclusion Spring 2017 Collection,” empowering body-positive redefinition of fashion’s future.
“I am honored that Byron chose me,” say Crawford. “I love fashion and beauty and his clothes are simply amazing.”
Lars has rendered fashion designs for First Lady Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Angela Bassett, Anika Noni Rose, Gabrielle Union, Katheryn Winnick, Cicely Tyson, Natalie Portman, and others.
Later this month, Crawford will release her new single, “Choose Me” from her EP, Diary of a Church Girl, which debuted at No. 15 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. “’Choose Me’ is a song about our human need and desire to be accepted,” Crawford continues. “Accepted by our families, accepted by our friends, accepted by our significant other, accepted at your place of business. That’s where I was when I wrote it.
I was trying to navigate through this journey called life; in an industry, religious denomination and social culture that said I should look this way, act that way, walk like this and talk like that. I didn’t feel like I fit the mold and I didn’t feel like I fit in.

One day I realized I would continue to let people down because I could never be what they expected me to be. More importantly, I would let myself down if I kept trying to be anything but who I was created to be. That’s when I decided to stop relying on people’s validation and go straight to the creator.
If he could choose the likes of Moses, David, Joseph—the list goes on—with all of their imperfections he could surely choose me. I realized that the only thing that was important to me was doing his work, helping his people and pleasing him. He doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies who he chooses to call.” Listen here.
