Kerry Washington Shocks Fan Lamenting Neutrogena’s Lack of Darker Shades

*A woman named Ebony wrote to Neutrogena to ask why their foundation shades didn’t have colors to accommodate darker skin tones like hers – or ironically, their own spokesperson, Kerry Washington.

The actress, who has been the face of Neutrogena for three years, had been wondering the same thing.

According to People.com, the “Scandal” star took it upon herself to work with the brand to provide dark-skinned women with shades to match their complexion.

Washington also took it upon herself to personally call Ebony, who happens to be one of her biggest fans, with the good news. (Ebony was told she’d be contacted via video by one of the brand’s customer service reps.)

Per People.com:

The star recently spoke to PeopleStyle about the extension of the brand’s foundation range, saying that all women deserve to have an option suitable to them — an issue that she’s always felt strongly about.

“Inclusivity is a value that is core to my beliefs and a passion of mine,” Washington told PEOPLE about the shades. “So to be able to be hands on making this technology available to everybody and also coming up with lip colors that look good on everybody … There’s no reason why women of all ethnicities should be like ‘Oh, I love this technology but there is no color for me.’”

Washington’s favorite part about the new shades? “I’m most happy about my own color because I get to wear it,” she shares.
