Kanye Says ‘The Life Of Pablo’ Exclusive to TIDAL, Pirates Say Otherwise

Kanye West

*Kanye West says his latest album, “The Life of Pablo,” will not be available for sale on Apple Music and purchase at iTunes. West wants his fans to support TIDAL, so the album will remain on the streaming service, as the tortured artist explained in a series of Tweets.

“This was made with love,” the rapper writes. “Only God can judge me. So I only expect love back!!! My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal. Please to all my friends fans and music lovers. Sign up to Tidal now.”

Despite his pleas, many listeners are choosing to pirate TLOP rather than sign up for Tidal. According to Torrent Freak, over 500,000 copies the album have been downloaded in the last few days, and it’s currently “the most-shared album on popular Torrent site The Pirate Bay.” How this will affect overall TIDAL sales of the album remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Kanye will continue his G.O.O.D. Fridays music series on TIDAL, where he releases new music every Friday – including more new music with Kendrick Lamar and Young Thug. Both rappers appear on TLOP.

“Also all Good Fridays songs will be on Tidal,” West says. “Me and Kendrick got 40 songs and me and Young Thug got 40 songs. 40/40 club!!!”

Kanye’s latest update comes after he read Pitchfork’s review of TLOP, and he disagreed with the publication’s 9/10 rating.

“Pitchfork, the album is a 30 out of 10,” he says. “Puff Daddy is the most important cultural figure in my life. His influence means everything to me. To Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, New York Times, and any other white publication. Please do not comment on black music anymore. I love love love white people but you don’t understand what it means to be the great grandson of ex slaves and make it this far. The system is designed for colored people to fail and one of our only voices is music. One of our only ways out is music.”
