*Fox has released a new, extended trailer for “Hidden Figures,” the film starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae as the real life NASA mathematicians instrumental in astronaut John Glenn’s 1962 launch into orbit.
The fresh trailer shows more of the race and gender battles faced by Katherine G. Johnson (Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Monae), just three of the many brilliant African-American women working at NASA who served as the brains behind Glenn’s launch, one of the greatest operations in history.
Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell and Kimberly Quinn round out the film’s cast.
Allison Schroeder and Theodore Melfi wrote the screenplay, with Melfi directing.
“Hidden Figures” hits limited theaters Dec. 25 before expanding wide Jan. 6.
