*Key members of Public Enemy, Cypress Hill and Rage Against the Machine have formed a new band and have named it after the classic PE track, “Prophets of Rage.”

But don’t call Prophets of Rage a “supergroup.”

Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello tells Rolling Stone they are “an elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bulls**t, and confront it head-on with Marshall stacks blazing.”

Prophets of Rage brings together members of the Morello’s old band, with two of the group’s favorite rappers: PE’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real. Hints of the band’s formation began surfacing in mysterious posters around Los Angeles, and a countdown clock was posted on Rage Against the Machine’s Twitter account.

According to Rolling Stone, Rage Against the Machine’s singer Zack de la Rocha will not be a part of Prophets of Rage, but the group will play such band classics as “Bulls On Parade” and “Killing in the Name” along with tunes by Public Enemy and Cypress Hill.

So far, only one Los Angeles club show is scheduled, though the group hopes to book more shows in the coming months.
