*Parents of students at the Center for Early Education in West Hollywood were blessed with a rockin’ performance by Beyonce during the 75th anniversary gala.
The private school is where her 4-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, may or may not attend. The event raised money for financial aid at the school. 21% of students at the school receives financial aid or tuition remission, according to the school’s website.
Reveta Bowers, the head of school, would not confirm whether Blue Ivy attends the center, or how much money the gala raised. Ticket prices varied based on a family’s ability to pay, according to L.A. Times.
“One of the main goals of the fundraising that evening was to raise money for financial aid,” said Bowers, who is retiring at the end of the school year after 44 years as a teacher and administrator. The gala was held in her honor.
“I’m here to celebrate Reveta. Thank you so much for all you’ve done for so many people,” Beyonce said, according to a video from the event.
Attendees posted several clips of Bey’s surprise show on Instagram, including her singing a cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Based on the posts, she did not perform her latest single, “Formation.”
Beyonce headed to the Fonda Theater in LA on March 6 to support Sophie Beem’s first show, as the 16-year-old aired tracks from her debut self-titled EP. Digital Spy notes that Beem was one of three teenage artists signed by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment company last year. Sophie appeared on “The X Factor” back in 2012, and placed in the top 40 contestants.
