Following “Hamilton” cast member Brandon Dixon’s so called “harassing” message to vice president-elect Mike Pence, and the subsequent social media threats by Trump supporters encouraging other fragile white people to boycott the production, the Lin-Miranda Manuel created play garnered $3.3 million in ticket sales over a week-long string of shows, according to the New York Times.

Slate also adds that “Hamilton” surpassed Broadway’s long-standing “Wicked,” which accumulated $3.2 million in a week.

“Hamilton made headlines earlier this month after Pence was met with boos when he attended a show. That’s when Dixon took a minute after the production to address the vice-president elect with a viral message.

“We are the diverse America that are alarmed and anxious that you and your administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” he said. “We hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American valued and work on behalf of all of us.”

Donald Trump and his fragile ego chimed in on the matter, claiming that Pence was harassed by the “Hamilton” cast, and demanded an apology. Dixon caught wind of Trump’s comments and shared his sentiments on television.

“We are men and women of different colors, creeds, and orientations, and the resonate nature of the show throughout the world, throughout the global community, demands that we make statements when there are important issues facing us as a community,” he said in an interview with CBS. “So we wanted to stand up and spread a message of love and of unity.”
