Ben Carson: Obama was ‘Raised White’ So Vote for Me

Ben Carson and Barack Obama*When playing nice hasn’t secured a lock on the Republican presidential nomination, Ben Carson has opted for the next best thing: attacking President Barack Obama with whatever seems reasonable. No matter how unreasonable it actually is.

Not helping matters for Carson is a very blunt assessment from Bill O’Reilly, who laid out plain and simple for the presidential hopeful this week, saying, “It’d take a miracle” for him to win the Republican nomination.

With that in mind, the reality is a bit hard to swallow. But Carson is determined to remain on the voter radar as he took shots at Obama with a unique racial angle during appearance on Politico’s “Off Message” podcast.

“He’s an ‘African’ American – he was, you know, raised white,” Carson said. “I mean, like most Americans, I was proud that we broke the color barrier when he was elected, but … he didn’t grow up like I grew up … Many of his formative years were spent in Indonesia. So, for him to, you know, claim that, you know, he identifies with the experience of black Americans, I think, is a bit of a stretch.”

While claiming that it’s a “bit of a stretch” for Obama to have any identification with the black experience in America, Carson takes things further with touching on the hot button issue or racism.

In his eyes, “real racism” is something he knows well when speaking about the divisive topic.

“Remember now, I’ve been around for 64 years, you know,” he said. “I’ve had a chance to see what real racism is.”
