*Amber Rose has scored her own talk show.
The as-yet-untitled weekly series will premiere this summer on VH1, with a specific date to be announced, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Dr. Phil and his son Jay McGraw are producing for their company Stage 29 Productions.
The show will feature Rose conducting candid interviews with celebrity friends and leading what is billed as provocative, entertaining and humorous conversations with guests on topics including pop culture, motherhood, relationships, friendships, race and entrepreneurship.
“I am very excited to be joining forces with such an amazing network to deliver a fresh perspective on the primetime talk show,” Rose stated. “Join us as we break all the rules and redefine late-night. Watch out Fallon, here comes Muva!”
Stage 29 president McGraw alongside the company’s Phil McGraw, Carla Pennington, Patty Ciano and Jeff Hudson will executive produce the series; Mona Scott-Young is on board as consulting exec producer, while Rose and her partner Walter Mosley will also exec produce for her Behind Her Shades Entertainment banner. Nina L. Diaz and Trevor Rose will oversee for VH1.
Amber Rose started her career as a model before turning to acting and fashion design. She was discovered by Kanye West after appearing in Ludacris’ “What Them Girls Like” video in 2008. After Dating West, she married and divorced Wiz Khalifa. Her unscripted credits include Russell Simmons’ Running Russell Simmons, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Master of the Mix and, more recently, ABC scripted comedy Black-ish. Simon & Schuster published Rose’s first book, How to Be a Bad Bitch, in October. And in March, she launched an emoji app called MUVAmoji, a play on her nickname “Muva Rose.”
“Amber has inspired millions of young women by overcoming homelessness to become a wildly successful entrepreneur,” VH1 GM Chris McCarthy said. “A true multihyphenate, she is a devoted mother, a strong advocate for women’s rights and a celebrated author all of which make her an ideal host. Amber is a perfect addition to the VH1 family because our audience is interested in hearing unique perspectives from those who are unapologetically themselves and not afraid to take a stand on issues they are passionate about.”
Stage 29, meanwhile, also has scripted drama pilot Bull — based on the early career of Dr. Phil and starring NCIS’ Michael Weatherly — looking good for a series pickup at CBS.
