*Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson, and Project lslamic Hope President Najee Ali, and other civil rights leaders on Thursday, February 25 will detail plans for the national tune out of the white Oscars Sunday, February 28.
They will also read a list of the names of the highest stars in the film industry and call on them to demand the immediate and genuine promotion of diversity in the film industry.
“The white Oscars tune out will be the real story on the day of the Oscars, “says Hutchinson,” a tune out will result potentially in the loss of millions of dollars to the Academy in future advertising. In addition the call for the film industry’s biggest and best paid stars to voice the demand for top to bottom diversity in the film business will further drive home the message that lip service by the industry to diversity is no longer acceptable.”
