*Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and other civil rights leaders on Friday, February 5, called for Academy Award nominees to “lunch out” at the Monday, February 8 scheduled pre Oscars awards ceremony luncheon.
“The call for a pre-Oscar Ceremony “lunch out” is a golden opportunity for Oscar nominees and film celebrities to voice their concern and opposition to the blatant and insulting lack of diversity at this year’s Oscars ceremony,” says Hutchinson, “By using the luncheon to speak out on the white-out of the Awards ceremony film stars will send a powerful message to the industry to make film industry diversity at the top more than a hollow promise.”
