*Donald Trump has offended folks again – this time over his attempt to disparage Hillary Clinton’s extra-long bathroom break at the recent Democratic debate, as well as her 2008 primary loss to now-President Barack Obama.
“She was favored to win and she got schlonged, she lost,” the GOP presidential candidate said at a rally Monday night, using a slang word for penis.
In mocking Clinton for returning late to Saturday’s debate following a commercial break because she’d been using the bathroom, Trump called what she was doing in the bathroom “disgusting.”
“What happened to her? I’m watching the debate, and she disappeared. Where did she go?!” Trump said at the rally at the DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
“I know where she went. It’s disgusting, I don’t want to talk about it,” he added. “No, it’s too disgusting. Don’t say it, it’s disgusting.”
Trump has made previous remarks against Clinton that have been interpreted as sexist, including his repeated claims that she lacks the strength and stamina to be president and invoking the image of her putting on a pantsuit before heading to work. But Trump’s latest remarks appeared to have struck a nerve.
After declining to comment Monday evening, Clinton spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri took to Twitter to label the language “degrading.”
“We are not responding to Trump, but everyone who understands the humiliation this degrading language inflicts on all women should,” Palmieri said on Twitter, concluding with the hashtag “imwithher.”
This latest round of back-and-forth between Clinton and Trump began during Saturday’s Democratic debate, when Clinton said ISIS is using videos of Trump’s comments about Muslims to recruit militants.
“They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists,” she said.
No evidence was found to back the claim, and Trump demanded an apology. Clinton’s camp responded, “Hell no.”
