*Are you afraid of flying? In reality, no one wants to crash and burn in any capacity. The thing is, fear and faith cannot work together. Like two women who want the same man, they do not get along. They are literally going in opposite directions. So if you want to fly, start going up, because the job of fear is to pull you and your plans down.

Flying requires faith. What is faith? It means that even when it’s foreign, scary, uncomfortable and inconvenient, you’re willing to do it because of what you are hoping for.

For most, going to the airport is inconvenient because of travel policies. It can also be expensive, a real budget buster, and if you’re afraid to fly, then it can be traumatizing. So why do we fly? We fly because ultimately where we want to go compels us more than our fears. There are people who are paralyzed by their fears and refuse to get on planes. But as I watched a documentary on how people overcome their fear of flying, guess what they had to do?  They had to take baby steps with a coach. At first they went to the airport, then they sat on the plane, then eventually they had to buckle up and fly, some of them crying and screaming the whole way, but they did it. And when they walked off, most of them were happy, proud of themselves, feeling a sense of freedom because now they could actually travel. They could literally go farther!

When you fly, you have to trust the pilot, the person leading the plane. In the flight of our lives, it’s God who leads us, that is if we are willing to get on board and ride it out. If you believe in your heart that you have someplace of significance to go; decide now that you refuse to be stuck on the ground.

When you’re flying, sometimes there’s turbulence. There are people and babies on the flight that talk too much, smell funny or cry loudly. The seats are uncomfortable, too small and too close. Why do you get on these planes? Why would you pay for something that you don’t enjoy very much? You do it, I do it, because we know that it’s the vehicle that can get us to our destinations in the fastest amount of time; albeit not without its challenges. We expect and accept that it’s a part of the journey; now apply that concept to your life. Challenges are not the purpose; they are merely a part of your journey on your way to where you are going.

With the flight, you go through the process of finding the right times and fare, paying for it, showing up for it and boarding. You see, even faith requires work on your end. That is why after you go through the process of doing the work and when the pilot announces over the speaker that it’s time to prepare for landing, you are ready to arrive and head off to your planned destination.

Sometimes, we simply get in our own way, getting discouraged about something, giving up and staying dormant too long. Regardless of what’s put a pause on your passion and purpose, you can pick up from where you left off and leap into the next chapter of your life with your heels on and hair intact. The key ways that this can be accomplished are:  to recharge, rebuild, and renew your mind. It’s time to get your wings back, girl and get back on course. You are called to be a woman who soars!
