Obama Won’t Force Kanye to Release ‘SWISH’ Album Next Week

*Despite collecting tens of thousands of signatures, a petition forcing Kanye West to release his next album, “SWISH,” has fallen flat.

Billboard notes that nothing has come from the album since West released the single “All Day” in February. Motivated to get things rolling for the release of “SWISH,” a fan of West’s was so motivated to get things rolling for the release of “SWISH” that started the petition on the White House’s We the People site on Wednesday (Aug. 12).

“Kanye West has kept us thirsty for too long,” the petition read. “We haven’t gotten any new singles in months. The President should order Ye to drop the album on the date August 21st, as his producer Mike Dean has been teasing people about.”

According to the terms of participation, the We the People site requires the Obama administration to respond to all petitions that have reached over 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

The tens of thousands of signatures the petition quickly gained ultimately did not sway the White House, which shut the effort down by the middle of Wednesday afternoon. The reason for the refusal stemmed from claims the petition was in violation of We the People’s terms of participation. As a result, it was removed under the moderation policy.

While Dean was referenced in the petition for “teasing” the release of “SWISH,” Billboard reports a formal announcement for the album was never made by the producer. In an interview with Montreality, Dean summed up the timeframe by saying “SWISH” is making progress and will be out soon, “whenever Kanye says it’s done, it’s done.”
