*A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Netflix documentary “What Happened, Miss Simone?”
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Liz Garbus takes viewers into the heart, mind and craft of the iconic recording artist and civil rights activist through her own songs, diary entries and letters.
“With additional rare concert footage and interviews with Simone’s daughter, friends and collaborators, the film dives into the soul of the troubled blues singer, uncovering her devotion to empower black America and exposing her abusive personal life, her controlling managers and her own experiences being bipolar,” according to Indiewire.
Stream “What Happened, Miss Simone?” on Netflix beginning June 24.
