‘French Kiss’ DJ Lil Louis May Lose Hearing After Airhorn Incident

lil_louis*The career of Chicago-born DJ Lil Louis could be in jeopardy after he revealed he possibly suffered permanent hearing loss from a nearby airhorn in Manchester, England.

The turntablist, called the “founding father of house,” detailed the incident on his Facebook fan page, saying he was preparing for his set in Manchester when there was a sound “louder and more shrill than anything I’d ever heard.”

Lil Louis mentioned that the horn was just was just inches away from his ear and added that the noise hurt so much that he jumped in the air and screamed.

“The pain was followed by an intense ringing and muffled silence,” he wrote.

Upon being taken to the hospital, Lil Louis told he had SILH (sound induced hearing loss). The condition, he mentioned, can be permanent. As a result, Lil Louis expressed concern that the incident may prevent him from DJ’ing again.

“I’m praying, because I’ve made the best album of my life, and want to give you that, the film, and the best DJing, which is still in front of me,” he said.

Lil Louis’ revelation marks a major potential change for the DJ, who best known for his number one 1989 US dance chart song “French Kiss.” Lil Louis’ song “Video Clash” was prominently sampled for the John Legend tune “Made To Love” in 2013.

In addition to describing the airhorn incident, Lil Louis apologized to his fans for not being able to perform at the club. The DJ, who was set to headline the club’s opening party, revealed that he’s still in the hospital, where he’s due to undergo more tests.
