*Electronic Urban Report/EURweb.com associate Ny Magee recently visited the set of the new FOX series “Rosewood,” starring Morris Chestnut as Miami’s top private pathologist, and the sexy star told us that one of the things he’s learned from playing the “light, fun and witty” Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr. is to live life to the fullest and always be present in the moment.
“One of the things that I keep in perspective, cause ya know, he has all these health ailments, and the character is always emphasizing live every day like it’s your last, and I lose sight of that quite a bit cause there’s so many things going on sometimes.” Morris said.
In describing how much he personally relates to the characters, Morris revealed: “I try to find a little bit of me in all the characters I play. I’m simple in terms of, I have an optimistic outlook, but I don’t live everyday like it’s my last like he does.”
Morris explained how he was offered the “Rosewood” role while working on the TNT series “Legends.”
“It was on TNT but the production company was a FOX production company and they reached out and asked would you be interested in doing this pilot and it was at a time in my career (when) I just finished a movie where I was all emotional, last 2-3 movies I was emotional, and I wanted to do something fun, and when I read the script I said, ‘this guy, he has a lot of fun.’ So I jumped at it.”
“The Perfect Guy” star also said that having Lorraine Toussaint play his mother is “phenomenal,” and when we asked the lovely Lorraine to describe the type of mother she plays, she didn’t hesitate to assert:
“I’m a black mom. The rules for us are different. Ya know, she’s all in his business because she’s been an integral part of his life and his survival,” she said. “This is a child who was born a premature baby, with all kinds of medical issues, and an extraordinarily compromised body, and what happens when you have a child like that? A great deal of her energy goes toward just keeping him alive. So that forges a particular kind of bond between a mother and a child, and that particular type of intimacy has certainly followed us into adulthood.”
“Rosewood” co-stars Jaina Lee Ortiz, Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, and Domenick Lombardozzi and premieres tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on FOX.
