*The movie has yet to secure distribution in North America, but Don Cheadle’s Miles Davis biopic, “Miles Ahead,” will make its world premiere in New York this fall — as the closing night film at the New York Film Festival.
The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced the selection Wednesday, according to The AP. The film has been a long-time passion project for Cheadle, who stars as the jazz icon and directs for the first time.
“Miles Ahead” focuses on Davis’ reemergence in 1980 after his so-called “silent period” in the late 1970s.
The 53rd New York Film Festival runs September 25 through October 11.
