*Some people have a special dinner or take a special trip to celebrate their wedding anniversary. In Beyoncé’s case, the occasion was marked with the release of a surprise new song.
The full version of the tune, titled “Die With You,” is available on Tidal, the subscription-only music streaming service recently purchased and launched by Beyoncé’s husband Jay Z. Along with the song comes a video of Beyoncé performing it that was shot by Jay Z.
“Because I want to wake up just to sleep with you/I open my eyes so that I can see with you,” Beyoncé sings in “Die With You,” which was written for Jay Z and released on Saturday (April 4).
The song’s release comes after Beyoncé appeared alongside Jay Z, Madonna, Rihanna, Alicia Keys and other artists to launch Tidal on March 30. Despite the high-powered talent on hand for the launch, The Washington Post noted criticism directed at the venture from those who feel Tidal is too expensive and unnecessary.
