Muhammad Ali Follows-Up At Hospital-Ray Rice Settles Ravens Grievance

muhammad-ali *Former heavyweight boxing champ Muhammad Ali returned to the hospital for follow-up care related to a urinary tract infection.

Ali family spokesman Bob Gunnell told the Associated Press Thursday that Ali was admitted to an undisclosed hospital earlier this week. The sports legend is expected to be released today, Gunnell added.

Ali’s latest hospital stay comes after his initial hospitalization on Dec. 20 for what ended up being a severe urinary tract infection. That hospitalization ended last week, the AP noted.

As the weekend approaches, Gunnell mentioned that Ali is hoping to celebrate his 73rd birthday with family on Saturday at one of his homes.

ray riceIn other sports news, USA Today Sports reports that Ray Rice has settled his grievance against the Baltimore Ravens. A person with knowledge of the situation revealed to the publication that the grievance was settled before a hearing that was scheduled to begin Thursday.

According to USA Today, terms of the settlement were not disclosed as the person spoke on condition of anonymity because the settlement was to remain private.

News of the settlement is the latest development regarding Rice, who had been seeking back pay for wrongful termination after the Ravens cut him in September. The termination occurred after video of Rice punching his then-fiancée in the face surfaced.

Fallout from the incident resulted in the NFL increasing Rice’s suspension from two games to an indefinite ban the same day. The second suspension was later overturned by an arbitrator. Although Rice is free to sign with any team, he has not attracted any interest at this time.
