*Tyrese Gibson’s divorce from Samantha Gibson, finalized in 2020, continues to spark legal disputes, with Samantha’s lawyers now demanding the actor be jailed for failing to pay nearly $500,000 in attorney fees.
According to TMZ, the outstanding bill, owed to The Gleklen Law Firm and Bloom Lines Alexander, has grown to $492,651.99 with interest. Samantha’s fourth motion, filed recently, accuses Tyrese of ignoring the debt and requests he be held in criminal contempt with a 20-day jail sentence.
The couple, married in 2017, share a daughter, Soraya, now 5. Their contentious divorce has fueled ongoing financial battles. In April 2025, Samantha filed to dismiss Tyrese’s lawsuit seeking reduced child support payments, citing his failure to pay $111,955 in back child support. “He has only paid the full monthly amount three times,” Samantha stated, noting Tyrese’s brief jailing in Fulton County last year for non-payment.
Samantha, awarded primary custody and $10,690 monthly child support in 2023, argues Tyrese’s appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court prevents the lower court from altering the order. Her legal team insists his non-compliance warrants dismissing his lawsuit. The court has yet to rule on this motion.
Previously, in September 2024, Samantha’s lawyers placed a lien on Tyrese’s 18,000-square-foot Atlanta mansion for $217,231 in unpaid legal fees. Tyrese also faced an additional $73,000 debt, including $7,500 for Samantha’s attorney fees. Despite his stated intent to settle these amounts, the ballooning $492K bill remains unresolved.

Samantha reflected on their divorce in a 2023 podcast, admitting her decision may have been hasty. However, her legal team remains firm, emphasizing that Tyrese’s unpaid fees are a serious matter. The threat of jail looms as the latest escalation in their prolonged legal saga, with no resolution in sight for the *Fast & Furious* star and his ex-wife.
