*Take 6 is entering a new chapter marked by music, gratitude and service as the celebrated vocal group prepares to unveil its upcoming project, “RHAPSODY,” while continuing a global touring schedule that has kept audiences packing concert halls around the world.
The multi-award-winning sextet—Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea and Khristian Dentley—will bring that momentum to New York City when it returns to the Blue Note Jazz Club on June 19, 20 and 21. The performances will celebrate the completion of “RHAPSODY,” a collection of jazz standards that showcases the group’s signature harmonies while honoring some of the most enduring compositions ever written.
Over a career that’s spanned decades, Take 6 has accumulated 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Dove Awards, and a Soul Train Award while earning recognition as members of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Their impact has also inspired praise from legendary producer Quincy Jones, who famously called them the “baddest vocal cats on the planet.”
A New Musical Journey With “RHAPSODY”
Although the album is not expected to arrive until early 2027, “RHAPSODY” represents a significant artistic milestone for the group. The recording celebrates songs that began as jazz compositions but eventually transcended genre boundaries to become part of the broader cultural soundtrack.
According to the group, the project will feature interpretations of classics ranging from “Rhapsody in Blue” and “Blue Skies” to “A Night in Tunisia” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing.” The album also promises appearances from special instrumental guests whose contributions will add new dimensions to the group’s celebrated vocal arrangements.
The release carries special significance for Take 6, whose first Grammy Award recognized the ensemble as Jazz Vocal Group of the Year. Decades later, the group is returning to the genre with a fresh perspective while remaining rooted in the vocal excellence that has defined its career.

Recent Honors Add to a Remarkable Legacy
The last two years have brought a new wave of recognition for the acclaimed performers. Take 6 received Artist of the Year honors from Yamaha and NAMM and earned international recognition with a similar distinction in Kazakhstan.
The group also delivered several high-profile television appearances, including standout performances during CBS specials honoring the music of Paul Simon and the Beach Boys. Their rendition of “Homeless” during “Homeward Bound: A Grammy Salute to the Songs of Paul Simon” captivated viewers, while a later appearance alongside Michael McDonald on “Don’t Worry Baby” highlighted the versatility that has helped sustain the ensemble’s popularity.
In May 2026, Take 6 participated in the Grammy Hall of Fame celebration (in Los Angeles), opening the event with a tribute to The Soul Stirrers and closing the evening alongside Josh Groban performing “Stand By Me.”
Speaking of LA, while in the City of Angels, the guys also put in a week of performances at the Blue Note in Hollywood. One of theirs fav fans is the one-and-only Flavor Flav, the legendary Public Enemy hype man. One of Flav’s bucket list items was to meet his heroes. Well, not only hook up with them backstage, but he also had the opportunity to participate in a private performance with them, too. Check out the video below of new brotherhood “Spreadin’ Love.”

A Year Dedicated to Giving Back
Beyond music, the group has declared 2026 its official “Year of Giving and Giving Thanks,” a campaign designed to create meaningful impact through education, philanthropy and community engagement.
Among the initiatives is the establishment of a fully funded Take 6 Scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University. The group is also supporting efforts connected to St. Jude Children’s Hospital as part of a broader commitment to helping children facing serious illnesses around the world.
The campaign reflects values the members say have guided them throughout their career: faith, friendship, mutual respect and a shared love of music.
New Collaborations and a Busy Road Ahead
Take 6 shows no signs of slowing down. In addition to domestic and international touring through 2026, the group is preparing to launch new collaborative projects.
One of the most anticipated is “Withers to Wonder,” a new production featuring acclaimed vocalist Nnenna Freelon and Emmy Award-winning entertainer Clint Holmes. The show has already generated significant interest, with early performances selling out.
The ensemble’s long list of collaborators over the years includes icons such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, Michael McDonald and Jacob Collier. Those partnerships have helped expand the group’s reach across gospel, jazz, pop and contemporary music audiences worldwide.
