*A legal clash involving rap icons Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube has escalated as they resist depositions in a lawsuit filed by Westside Merchandising.
According to Us Weekly, the company accuses the rappers, along with E-40, Too Short, and Mount Westmore LLC, of fraud, breach of contract, and conversion tied to a merchandising and tour deal. Court documents reveal the duo’s efforts to avoid in-person testimony, citing packed schedules and proposing virtual appearances instead. Westside, however, demands accountability, alleging the artists failed to deliver on promised promotions.
The lawsuit, initiated on November 18, 2024, centers on Westside’s claim of exclusive rights to Mount Westmore merchandise. The company alleges it paid $1.375 million in advances, expecting promotional efforts like videos and event appearances from Snoop and Ice Cube. “Defendants took my client’s money…only to run away with seven figures of funding, and failing to provide anything in return,” said Westside’s attorney, John Fowler.

Westside notes the group performed only three concerts in 2022 and none in subsequent years, falling short of contractual obligations. In response, Snoop and Ice Cube’s legal team argues the claims lack merit. “The facts and the law will ultimately show that Westside Merchandising’s claims against our clients are entirely baseless and without merit,” stated their attorney, Frank Seddigh.
The rappers assert that Westside neglected to provide royalties and proper accounting owed to them. They’ve also suggested Tony Draper, an associate, could testify on their behalf, a proposal Westside rejected. The deposition dispute intensified when Snoop and Ice Cube filed motions in August to avoid October depositions, calling them “harassing, oppressive, and burdensome.”
They requested virtual testimony and a two-hour limit if required to appear. Westside countered in September, claiming it had been “extremely cooperative” with scheduling and seeking $11,000 in sanctions for the delay. The outcome of this legal standoff remains pending.
