*Russell Simmons has concluded a lengthy financial conflict with three women who brought sexual misconduct allegations against him, ending more than a year of nonpayment on settlement agreements exceeding $3 million.
According to All Hip Hop, the resolution with Wendy Franco, Sil Lai Abrams, and Sherri Abernathy came after Rolling Stone contacted his attorneys with specific inquiries about the unpaid amounts. Simmons agreed to $3.045 million settlement with the women, but failed to meet his October 2024 payment deadline.
According to court records, Franco was owed $515,000, while Abrams and Abernathy were each owed $1,265,000 for allegations stemming from incidents in the 1980s and 1990s. Details of the final agreement have not been made public.

The Def Jam co-founder is confronting other substantial financial obligations beyond these three settlements. Legal documents indicate he owes $8 million to three additional accusers, Tina Klein-Baker, Toni Sallie, and Alexia Jones. Simmons is also involved in litigation with his former wife, Kimora Lee, over millions of dollars in Celsius energy drink stock. Federal officials are seeking to confiscate the shares due to money-laundering charges brought against Kimora’s ex-husband, Tim Leissner.
In June 2025, Simmons initiated a $20 million defamation case against HBO and filmmakers behind “On the Record,” a 2020 documentary featuring interviews with several women who have accused him. He has consistently rejected all claims of sexual misconduct, stating that “these horrific accusations have shocked me to my core and all of my relations have been consensual.”
