*Director Paul Thomas Anderson (PTA) releases a fusillade of attacks aimed at the racist regime in “One Battle After Another.” “Truth is stranger than fiction” is an adage that could not be more appropriately applied than here.
The United States is living under a demented dictatorship by men who came from other countries to colonize it and put its native Americans on Reservations.
Reel Rocker Anderson also points out in “One Battle After Another” how America sweeps its vile history under the rug. One scene where this is depicted is when Rob (Leonardo DiCaprio) visits his daughter’s school and confronts the teacher about honored US representatives that owned slaves.

“One Battle After Another” recalls my favorite Rod Serling “Twilight Zone” episode, “Black Leather Jackets,” describing most Americans:
“They are a stupid race as our research has told us. An inferior breed capable of killing, hatred, making war, greed, and cruelty to one another. The universe can well do without them.”
It’s unfortunate and unimaginable to think that the revolutionaries in “One Battle After Another” would become collateral damage because of revolting voters who put destructive politicians in office.
It is not that often a film hits all the marks—action, talent, intrigue, nail biting scenes, cinematography, relevance, and moving dad/daughter moments. Among the gifts was hearing was hearing Gil Scott-Heron’s “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” throughout the movie. And, to see Rob watching the great film, and one of my favorites, “The Battle of Algiers.”

Briefly, “One Battle After Another” tells the story of revolutionary Bob (DiCaprio) in a state of stoned paranoia, surviving off the grid with his spirited, self-reliant daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti).
When his evil nemesis (Sean Penn) resurfaces after 16 years and she goes missing, the former radical scrambles to find her, father and daughter both battling the consequences of his past.
“One Battle After Another” also stars Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Tony Goldwyn, James Downey, Wood Harris, Alana Haim, Shayna McHayle, Starletta DuPois, and D.W. Moffett.
