*The Waffle House hero got the surprise of a lifetime when his idol showed up to honor him on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
James Shaw Jr., the man who disarmed the mass shooter at a Tennessee Waffle House, told Ellen that Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade is his favorite NBA player.
Cue Wade, who walked onto the set and proceeded to praise Shaw as his family’s hero.
In addition, Wade gave Shaw a $20,000 check, matching the donation Ellen Degeneres made to help Shaw continue the charity work he’s begun following the shooting.
