Here’s what we published earlier …
*Tony! Toni! Toné! has spoken out about D’Wayne Wiggins’ health following recent reports that he was receiving hospice care.
In a statement shared on Wednesday (March 5), the legendary R&B group acknowledged Wiggins’ medical challenges but emphasized that he is facing them with strength.
“We wanted to share that D’Wayne Wiggins is experiencing medical complications. He is working through it one day at a time,” the band’s message read, Vibe reports. “We know how beloved he is by so many, and we are grateful for your prayers and concern. We also request that you respect the family’s privacy during this time. Much love, The Wiggins Family.”
The statement comes after Blanco Tarantino TV reported on Tuesday (March 4) that Wiggins was undergoing end-of-life care due to serious health issues. Concerns about his well-being grew after he was reportedly helped offstage at a recent performance.
“According to sources, including Miki Howard and industry insider @artemusgordon, Wiggins has been sick for quite some time, which explains why his brother Raphael Saadiq pushed for the Tony! Toni! Toné! reunion tour in 2023. Reports also suggest that his health condition is the reason we haven’t seen an official DVD release from the tour,” the outlet wrote on Facebook.
The post added, “Wiggins was recently assisted off stage, raising concerns about his well-being. Fans, friends, and fellow artists have begun sending their prayers and positive energy, as he is said to need all the support he can get.”
No details have been shared about Wiggins’ diagnosis, but fans and fellow artists have been sending prayers and positive energy his way.

As a founding member of Tony! Toni! Toné!, Wiggins, along with his half-brother, Raphael Saadiq, on bass and vocals and cousin Timothy Christian Riley on drums/keyboards, helped define ’90s R&B with hits like “Anniversary” and “(Lay Your Head On My) Pillow.” The group’s debut album, “Who?,” arrived in 1988 after signing with Wing Records. The trio’s self-produced second album, “The Revival” (1990), further solidified their success. By 1993, Tony! Toni! Toné! reached new heights with “Sons of Soul,” a project that leaned heavily into classic R&B influences. Their final studio album, “House of Music” (1996), continued their chart dominance, peaking at No. 32.
Throughout their career, Tony! Toni! Toné! landed five No. 1 hits on the R&B charts and seven more Top 10 singles.
