*Despite coming out with a big amount of money in their copyright infringement lawsuit against toymakers MGA Entertainment , T.I. and his wife Tiny Harris are mum on the legal win.
LoveBScott, per FOX 5 Atlanta, reports the couple and Tiny’s all-girl teen pop group the OMG Girlz were awarded $53.6 million in punitive damages. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) journalist Meghann Cuniff shared court documents revealing U.S. District Court Judge James V. Selna officially affirmed the jury’s award.
T.I., Tiny and the OMG Girlz will receive $53.6 million in punitive damages, in addition to $17.9 million in actual damages. Overall, their good fortune totaled $71.5 million.
“Upon consideration of the evidence, the Court grants disgorgement of profits of $17,872,252 under common law misappropriation and affirms the jury’s award of punitive damages of $53,616,759,” the filing read.
News of T.I. and Tiny’s legal victory marks the end of their lawsuit, which centered on allegations that MGA Entertainment engaged in “cultural appropriation and outright theft” using the likeness of the OMG Girlz for their line of collectible dolls. The all-girl teen pop group, formed in 2009 by Tiny, includes the Xscape member’s daughter Zonnique Pullins as well as Bahja “Beauty” Rodriguez and Breaunna “Babydoll” Womack,

In the lawsuit, lawyers for T.I., Tiny, and the OMG Girlz argued the legal action resulted amid claims MGA’s O.M.G. Dolls were modeled after the once-popular girl group.
Despite the legal victory, it did not come without a setback.
In January, U.S. District Court Judge James V. Selna issued a tentative order questioning the $53.6 million payment, arguing that there was not enough evidence of bad faith from MGA to justify such a large sum.
Fortunately for T.I. Tiny and the OMG Girlz, Selna reversed the order. Still, the duo, nor the OMG Girlz, have not released any public statements about the judge opting to uphold the damages.
Now comes the process of disbursing the awarded funds. Whether MGA Entertainment pursues any appeals or further legal action remains to be seen.
