*Roc Nation has allegedly begun serving takedown notices to bloggers and online commentators pushing the theory that the company’s founder, JAY‑Z, arranged a prison hit on rapper Tory Lanez.
As we reported earlier, Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in both feet in 2020. Last week, he was hospitalized after being violently stabbed 14 times by another inmate, Santino Casio, at a California prison. At a press conference hosted by United the People, a social justice nonprofit, legal advocates and supporters gathered to push for his release and demand a reexamination of the case, FOX LA reports.
Hours after Lanez’s hospitalization, his Instagram account released an update on the attack.
“Tory was stabbed 14 times – including seven wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus,” the statement said.
“He is now breathing on his own. Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through. He also wants to thank everyone for their continued support.”

Why the conspiracy spread
As SandraRose.com reports, Megan signed a management deal with Roc Nation in 2019 and has described JAY‑Z as both mentor and friend, a fact that fueled unfounded speculation that the hip-hop mogul was the mastermind behind the jailhouse assault.
Rather than issuing a public statement, Roc Nation has opted for targeted legal action, demanding that posts linking the firm or JAY‑Z to the stabbing be removed. Copyright and defamation attorneys say the strategy is common when false narratives threaten to damage a brand.
Meanwhile, prison officials have not disclosed a motive for the assault or indicated whether additional security measures will be implemented.
