Wendell Pierce & Erika Woods Discuss ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Roles | EURexclusiveWATCH

*”Power Book III: Raising Kanan” recently shocked fans with the death of a show favorite…Unique, played by Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott (aka Joey Bada$$). The fan reactions sent social media into a frenzy. What led up to the events of Unique’s death is a setup for an interesting ending to the remainder of this season.

Unique’s brother Ronnie has recently been released from jail and wants to get back in the game. He is eager and ready to pick up where he left off but his brother is insisting he be patient because of his current partnership with fellow dealer Raq.

For Ronnie, Unique isn’t his only connection. So he pays a visit to some old friends to help him acquire the funds he needs to get back in the game. We are introduced to new characters Pop and Snaps played by Wendell Pierce and Erika Woods. The couple was known as major players in the game but have retired from that lifestyle.

Now that Ronnie has taken Unique out of the game and needs to take over his spot. Will he be able to convince Snaps and Pop to front him the money to fund his product? It’s a strong possibility that’s where this story is headed….

Speaking with Woods she alluded “Things aren’t really all they seem to be with us. And I think that’s going to be a great adventure to take the viewers on.”

If you are a fan of shows like the “Power” universe then you should be familiar with Pierce’s work in this genre. Known as detective Williams Bunk on “The  Wire,” it’s interesting to see him on the other side of the game. We spoke with Pierce about his experience playing both roles in his career.

“As a police officer, I found that most African American police officers became police officers because they wanted to have an impact on their community. This is the other side of that same community. They decide to make a way out of no way,” said Pierce. He goes on to add how he views his character, not seeing him as a criminal. “Now as I’m playing one, it’s hard for me to even say criminal because I don’t look at myself as a criminal. I look at myself as a businessman,” said Pierce.

Because he is a businessman. That is even more reason to believe Snaps and Pop are about to step back into their old lifestyle. We’re halfway through the season and like Woods mentioned the show is gearing up to take viewers on an adventure.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan” is streaming now on Starz.
