*The NAACP called out Stephen A. Smith on social media after his comments on Donald Trump’s legal troubles.

We reported earlier that when Smith appeared recently on Fox News alongside Sean Hannity, he came to Trump‘s defense following the ex-president’s assertion that Black Americans empathize with him because of his legal troubles.

“Relatable!?! Show of hands: Anyone in your Black family have 88 felony charges pending, filed for bankruptcy 6x, made an attempt to overthrow a presidential election and our democracy, and still have the ability to fall asleep in court and dream of being POTUS?” the NAACP said in response, The Spun reports.

Smith clapped back at the NAACP on social media.

“This is absolutely, positively, sad that you — @NAACP — would misrepresent my comments like this. I was asked what Blacks WHO SUPPORT TRUMP are thinking as to why they support him. I answer THAT question. Sad! But you’re entitled. Good luck. Maybe that will beat Trump, since little else seems to be working — which was my overall point. We shall see,” he wrote.

In the comments of Smith’s X post, several followers defended the NAACP and slammed Smith for seemingly playing the victim.

One person wrote, “We have the tape! Unfollowing you. I’ve never been more embarrassed by someone. You criticized Whitlock for the same thing you’re doing now. I hope it’s worth the check!!

Another person commented, “It’s NOT absolutely, positively sad that the NAACP “misinterpreted” your words. The NAACP didn’t misinterpret your words StephenA. You talk too much and spew out some useless and unnecessary stats and analysis, all the time. There have been times when JJ Reddick and CJ McCollum have corrected you on live TV for inaccurate or misleading facts;data. You do it all the time. But you’re slick enough to wiggle yourself out of situations.”

A third X user added, “A cross-section of Black Folks all heard what you said and a replied “Hell Naw!” But we’re the problem.”
