*A year after Motown singer Martha Reeves campaigned for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she will finally receive the honor tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27.

“We are very proud to honor Martha Reeves with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is wonderful to see that her legacy and contributions to the music world will be recognized,” Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez stated, MadameNoire reports.

“Being a Motown great, it is fitting that her star will be on the strip where many iconic Motown acts such as The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and The Miracles have also been honored with their own stars,” Martinez added.

We reported earlier that honorees are expected to launch private and public fundraising efforts for a Walk of Fame Star. As her two-year nomination window was set to expire in June 2023, Reeves faced challenges in securing the necessary funds.

Per the Detroit Free Press, a star comes with a $55,000 price tag “to cover installation and other costs,” the outlet writes. The fee is typically covered by a movie studio, record label, or fans of the artist who help raise the money.

Reeves’ former manager reportedly dropped the ball regarding the fundraising efforts. So her new manager launched a campaign to secure $55,000. Fans were encouraged to donate at MarthaReeves.net.

“The official announcement is just out. I will receive my honor on The Hollywood Walk of Fame next Wednesday, March 27, at 11:30 AM PST. I want to thank everyone who donated and helped spread the word. It has meant so much,” Reeves, 82, wrote on Instagram. “A special thank you to my manager, Chris Roe at Chris Roe Management, for making it all happen. Today is a beautiful day. You can live stream the ceremony at walkoffame.com. Love to you all & God Bless! Martha Rose 🌹.”

Reeves is the frontwoman of the legendary girl group Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. As MadameNoire noted, their hits of the ’60s and ’70s include “Dancing in the Street,”” Come and Get These Memories,” “My Baby Loves Me,” “Nowhere to Run,” “Quick Sand,” “(Love is Like a) Heatwave,” “Jimmy Mack,” and “Bless You.”
