*Jay-Z is taking legal action against attorney Tony Buzbee, accusing him of pressuring potential clients to make false claims in lawsuits.
The rapper’s legal team has filed an affidavit accusing Buzbee of attempting to pressure an individual to falsely connect an unrelated sex trafficking case to Sean “Diddy” Combs. The affidavit comes after Buzbee filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z, claiming he raped a 13-year-old in 2000. In response, Jay-Z’s lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the suit and requested that the Jane Doe from the case reveal her identity so he can “properly defend himself against this false claim through the legal process in a transparent manner.”
According to TMZ, Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, revealed that a woman contacted his firm after having a troubling experience with Buzbee’s office. She claimed Buzbee’s team encouraged her to file a lawsuit over allegations unrelated to Combs, despite her clear statement that the claims did not involve him. The woman also alleged that Buzbee’s firm coached her to fabricate details, and when she refused to lie, they dropped her as a client. The woman reached out to Spiro’s firm, fearing Buzbee’s retaliation and believing his actions undermined legitimate victims.
The woman claims “she felt directed and coached by Mr. Buzbee’s firm to say that someone held her down and put drugs in her mouth when that was not her experience.”
Per TMZ, Spiro’s associate says the woman told her “she felt forced to lie.” Buzbee called her statements “ridiculous.”
“This is so ridiculous. If someone calls our intake and has a viable case that we believe has merit and we can pursue we will pursue it. We are currently pursuing hundreds of cases against individuals other than PDiddy. What we won’t do is pursue a case that we don’t believe has merit,” he said.
As we reported earlier, Buzbee’s latest filing alleges that JAY-Z sexually assaulted a teenage girl at an afterparty in New York City following the MTV Video Music Awards. The lawsuit was originally filed in October, and initially included Diddy as a defendant and referred to JAY-Z as “Celebrity A.” However, on December 8, the case was refiled to identify JAY-Z as a defendant.
The rapper and business mogul recently filed a motion in federal court challenging the plaintiff’s anonymity. Buzbee has filed a counter-motion to protect her identity.
