*Kid Capri is cancer-free! The good news is a welcome shot to end 2023 and begin 2024. The kicker is hip-hop icon’s medical status was classified until he announced the news via social media on Dec. 30.
Capri’s clean bill of health came after a private year-long battle with cancer. The DJ and mixtape pioneer detailed his situation while giving thanks to God for positive results, reports HipHopDX.
According to Capri, efforts to keep his cancer under the hat stemmed from a refusal to have his fans pity him and what he went through.
“God is great! 3 days ago, I found out that I’m cancer-free! Been dealing with it all year while I was doing everything I was doing for hip hop 50,” the turntablist shared on Instagram. “I had 2 surgeries and never said anything publicly about what I was going through, I’m not an attention whore, so I didn’t want to say anything so that it didn’t look like i wanted pity.”
“But now that it’s over, I figure I let my fans and friends know, I’m very happy, this year I did a lot, but come 2024, I’m getting even crazier than I did in 2023!! Thank you God! #kidcapri #partyking #therealLOVE #happynewyear #happyholidays,” he continued.

News of Capri’s recovery drew a positive reaction among fans and legendary rhymesayers Busta Rhymes, Doug E. Fresh and Big Boi, among others.

A series of emojis that included raised hands and a crown, populated reactions from Busta Rhymes and Big Boi, while Fat Joe also showed love, writing: “God bless you we love you Capri [praying hands].”
In addition to notable MCs, radio host, and TV personality Headkrack joined the chorus of good cheer towards Capri as he expressed gratitude to God as well as Capri himself for “walking in your own way with this.” He added: “To God be the glory and salute to you for walking in your way with this. Whether we knew or not, the people love you, man.”
Kid Capri’s cancer-free announcement comes amid the recent release of his latest album “Hidden Gems.” The 12-track project features the entertainer handling production duties while collaborating with underground rap veterans The Hoodies.
Although the album marks the first time Capri and the Hoodies have worked together, the project is a long time coming. According to Capri, The Hoodies members E-Class and Young Poppa hit the ground running with their natural chemistry and willingness to rhyme over any given beat.
“When they walked in, they did the first four beats I gave them,” the famed DJ told EURweb. “I did the first record and they did the next four beats I gave them. They just came and had rhymes ready. They didn’t complain about how they didn’t like the beat or they wanted a different track or none of that. They just did it. So that was one thing that made me fall like right in line with them.”
