*Damon Dash has a problem with Steve Stoute’s version of what led to Jay-Z severing ties with him. In an interview with Shannon Sharpe, Stoute aired his thoughts on the situation, attributing the split between the Roc-A-Fella Records cohorts to Dash’s ego.

“Jay grew up, you know, Jay wanted more. I think Jay seen Dame’s ceiling and I think that’s want it was. Jay seen Dame’s ceiling…he wanted more,” Stoute said, adding, “ [Dame’s] far from stupid, he’s very smart, very talented, [but his] ego is through the roof. So there was no working with him. No one wanted to work with him.”

Once the interview hit the online radar, Dash brought his reaction to social media, sharing a clip of Stoute’s interview.

“This is the reason I had to smack the sh*t out of @stevestoute a couple of years ago…because he’s always speaking on other men’s business,” Dasha captioned under the video, which was posted on Instagram.

“good thing I’ve evolved #staytuned @clubshayshay #culturevulture,” the post added.

Dash’s comments mark the latest development in his ongoing feud with Stoute. According to The Jasmine Brand, the beef goes back to 2020, when Dash alleged Stoute threw Jay-Z under the bus. When asked about their status, the former music executive mentioned speaking with Stoute, but

“I talked to Steve Stoute, He said, ‘You know all those times you were yelling at me about Jay? Jay was setting up those meetings.’ He just threw Jay under the bus, quick,” Dash said during an interview with the Breakfast Club in 2020.

For those wondering what messed things up between Stoute and Dash, that’s the big question. Whatever it was that triggered the feud is still unknown and, as Stoute made clear to Sharpe, very much alive.

“He blew it, He had Jay-Z, the most important artist of his generation,” Stoute stated.

Addressing how things went so wrong so fast between him and Dash, the Translation Advertising founder highlighted Dash not maturing and wanting to himself personally and professionally.

“Dame’s antics were just – it became – like, people over time, you mature. You didn’t have friends at 16 then by the time you were 19 they were still doing the same sh*t?… You start spending less and less time with them because of it. It’s like one of those things where – Dame wouldn’t change. The way he spoke to people, the way he treated people, he was angry,” Stoute said.

“He was angry because he had a strong perspective about his business philosophy and if anytime a partner of theirs tried to like, go around him – meanwhile, the people around him weren’t going around him! The people around him wanted to meet with other people! People were becoming less beholding to him.”

Dash’s mindstate became a liability during that time. Stoute goes on to reveal that his former business associate would abandon his business responsibilities for an extended period, instead opting to “go off all around the world with camera and girls and all kinds of crazy sh*t then come back flipping on everybody.”

“Bruh, you didn’t build a business that was so operationally tight that you could go away and come back and sh*t would be the same and all that sh*t,” Stoute mentioned.
