*Next year looks to be a great year for the real-life Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory. The former drug lord will be released 32 months early, setting up a life after prison that kicks off in 2025, according to Sandra Rose.

The news came after a judge recently approved Flenory’s release. The 55-year-old Detroit native was sentenced to 30 years behind bars after being indicted on drug trafficking charges in 2003, media sources noted.

In addition to his days as a drug lord, Flenory is best known for establishing BMF Entertainment in Atlanta, Ga. with his brother, Terry Lee “Southwest Tee” Flenory. Although the company was set up as a promotion agency and record label for hip-hop music, federal agents say the agency was a front for money laundering and a nationwide cocaine distribution enterprise.

While trafficking cocaine, BMF reportedly made more than $270 million.

In 2005, Flenory’s Atlanta and California-based Black Mafia Family (BMF) drug-trafficking operation ended when members were indicted by the DEA.

Before shutting down, Flenory was a fixture on the Atlanta hip-hop scene promoting and financing the careers of rappers that included Young Jeezy and Bleu Da Vinci.

In prison, Flenory’s impact continues to be felt. The bodybuilder’s seminars on health and fitness have garnered praise from those noticing his efforts to help fellow inmates.

Nowadays, Flenory’s past life has been highlighted on the small screen with his son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., playing a younger version of him in the Starz crime drama series “Black Mafia Family.” The show, which premiered Sept. 26, 2021, takes its inspiration from the true story of drug kingpins (Flenory and Southwest Tee) from southwest Detroit who created one of the most influential crime families in American history.

“BMF” stars include Lil Meech, Da’Vinchi, La La Anthony, Russell Hornsby, Ajiona Alexus Brown, Steve Harris, Ne-Yo, 2 Chainz, and Kelly Hu. The show’s third season premiered March 1 on Starz.
