NBA YoungBoy on Why He Turned to Mormonism | VIDEO

*Well here’s a shocker! Rapper NBA (Never Broke Again) YoungBoy plans to become a Mormon after the cult/sect’s teachings helped him escape his dark moments. Meanwhile, he is currently on house arrest, holed up in his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. The 23-year-old lives with his new wife, Jazlyn Mychelle. They married early last month, January 2023. They have two kids: a 17-month-old daughter Alice and his newborn son, Klemenza

The rapper was interviewed by Billboard; he opened up about his personal life, and he disclosed that he plans to be officially be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ the Latter-day Saints once his ankle monitor is taken off.

But how did he start paying attention to the Mormon faith? He said it began when the Mormon missionaries paid him a visit in late 2022. He didn’t welcome them the first time. When they returned the second time, he received them.

“I wanted help very badly. I needed a friend. And it hit me,” he said. “It was just cool to see someone with a different mindset that had nothing to do with business or money — just these wonderful souls.”

The missionaries still discuss “The Book of Mormon” with him, and he believes they helped him to “make sure my heart is in the right space.”

“Even when my negative thoughts come back, when I do want to tell them, ‘Not today,’ I just don’t let nothing stop it,” he said during the interview.

Earlier this month, YoungBoy released “I Rest My Case,” his first for Motown Records. In 2022, he released eight full-length projects. He said he is addicted to releasing songs.

“It’s a disease,” he explained. “Literally, I cannot help myself. I tell myself sometimes, ‘I’m not going to drop until months from now,’ but it’s addictive. I wish I knew when I was younger how unhealthy this was for me. Whatever type of energy I had inside me, I would’ve pushed it toward something else.”

Singing has also helped him cope with difficult moments.

“The music is therapy, but I can’t stop it when I want,” he stated. “And the lifestyle is just a big distraction from your real purpose.”
