*Stephan James returns to Amazon Prime Video’s “Homecoming.”
In season one we are introduced to his character Walter Cruz a soldier who enters a program to help soldiers with PTSD. The program he enters does more than just treat the solders through therapy.
They are given a serum that erases the traumatic events that caused the PTSD from their memory. At the end of season one, the show hints that Cruz has some of his memory, so what does that mean for him in season two?
“ I think if you were a fan of the first season then you are certainly in for more of the same in terms of the mystery and sort of the thrilling elements,” says James when describing what fans can expect in the second season. Here’s a clue: James’ character is trying to figure out what has happened to him.

As mentioned, he has some of his memory but needs to figure out why he can’t remember anything after a certain point in his life. As Walter Cruz begins to search for answers about his past he meets a woman, played by Janelle Monae, who is suffering from amnesia. The two discover she was a soldier as well and they both come to realize they may be looking for the same answers.
Although James’ character is trying to uncover the missing pieces of his past, this season focuses more on Janelle Monae’s character.
“I think people will be pleasantly surprised with what she was able to do with the character, she really stepped into it and owned it,” says James.
Monae will grab your attention in the first scene, with her authentic reaction to awakening in a boat in the middle of a lake. You immediately want to join her on her journey to discover how she ended up in a boat.
“Homecoming,” season two begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, May 22.
