Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Ink Multi-year Deal with Netflix

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry

*Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have signed a multi-year deal with Netflix, that will see them produce documentaries, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming under their unnamed production company.

“Our lives, both independent of each other, and as a couple have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection,” Meghan and Harry said in a statement, PEOPLE reports. “Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.”

They added, “As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens. We are pleased to work with Ted and the team at Netflix whose unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”

“We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-chief executive and chief content officer.

Harry recently made his Netflix debut in the documentary “Rising Phoenix” about the Paralympic Games.

“Featuring Paralympians from across the world, Rising Phoenix tells the extraordinary story of the Paralympic Games,” according to Tokyo 2020’s organizing committee. “From the rubble of World War II to the third biggest sporting event on the planet, along the way sparking a global movement which continues to change the way the world thinks about disability, diversity and human potential.”

While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may appear in some of their documentary programs, Markle reportedly has no plans to return to acting.
Harry and Oprah Winfrey also have a series about mental health planned for Apple TV+ next year.
