*Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders just did something a lot of folks thought would probably never ever happen.
Senator Sanders has endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for the presidency. It happened earlier today while appearing with his former rival on a livestream to stress the importance of defeating incumbent Republican Donald Trump.
Sanders told Biden he was asking “all Americans … to come together to support your candidacy, which I’ve endorsed.”
Sanders acknowledged there were significant policy differences between his democratic socialism and Biden’s traditional center-left views, but he said the campaigns would create joint task forces to develop policy positions on key issues.
“Your endorsement means a great deal to me,” Biden told the Vermonter.
So yes, the bottom line is that the democratic socialist is now backing the former vice president less than a week after exiting the race.
