*Lauryn Hill’s daughter Selah, who she shares with Rohan Marley, spoke candidly about her relationship with her famous parents on Instagram Live.
On Monday (August 10), Selah opened up about the “trauma” she endured as a child with her “angry” mother and absent father.
As reported by Hot New Hip Hop, Selah said she would Google what it was like to have a father and admitted to having daddy issues.
“Honestly guys, I’m just hurting. I can’t even front that I’m not,” she said. “I’ve been hurting for so much of my life and so much of my life has been me avoiding how much I’m really hurting just from the circumstances.”

Selah described her mother “an amazing woman” who was quite fond of spanking her children.
“She would spank us to no avail,” Selah stated. “She was just very angry. So, so, so, so, so, so angry. She was literally not easy to talk to and then half the time we didn’t live with her. I lived with my grandparents half the time… It’s crazy, I’m playing this trauma back in my head as I speak to you.”
She went on to say… “And then the threats, the constant threats… That belt man. That’s that slave sh*t. That was some slavery sh*t. All Black parents were on that sh*t.”

– Feels like she has no father, she has no God. Feels like this is her first time respecting the male principle of God.
– Says that dads are supposed to lay the law down. Without a dad, she felt lawless growing up and still feels that way.
– Her boyfriend’s dad was also absent. Says that they feel lawless together; there’s nothing around them creating consequences or order.
– Says that this is great for America because America lives for the destruction of the Black family. Says that a fatherless Black America is why ****** have no order.
– She feels guilty because she doesn’t respect her father. But she also fears him.
