Cam Newton Celebrates Son Caesar’s 1st Birthday: ‘I’m a Proud Father of Seven’

*NFL star Cam Newton took to Instagram to share a personal photo of his 1-year-old son Caesar, who he shares with Instagram model La Reina Shaw.

In the pic, the baby boy is seen standing on the lap of the Patriots QB, who wishes his son happy birthday in the caption.

Cam wrote, “I have grown so much with you being here on this earth and I am constantly reminded by what my purpose, discipline & drive is. Thank you enjoy your day!!! Caesar Lorenzo Newton #shinethrutheshade.”

Father’s Day marked the first time the super-star athlete posted about Caesar. In an IG post he wrote,  “I’m a proud father of 7. A daddy isn’t defined as the man who makes the child (not in all instances) but rather a man who extends his hands and time to help with the child’s raising and his heart to love the child through anything!!! Blood doesn’t always make you DADDY. Being a dad comes from the heart. Anybody can make a baby but it takes a real man to raise a child. Kudos to all the real men worldwide!! Happy Father’s Day to us.”

He then called out all his children, “Jaden, Shakira, Chosen, Sovereign-Dior, Camidas, Caesar and Cashmere.”

According to The Blast, Newton shares Cashmere, Camidas, Chosen and Sovereign-Dior with his ex Kia Proctor. He also raised Kia’s daughter Shakira from a previous relationship as his own.  Jaden is La Reina Shaw’s son from a previous relationship.

Last month, the former Carolina Panthers quarterback signed a minimum one-year deal with The Patriots, taking Tom Brady’s spot.

Newtown worked out a reported $7.5 million contract with incentives, but here’s why the “cheap” deal has been criticized, via CBS.com

Without the incentives, the deal is only worth about $1.05 million since it’s the league minimum, according to ESPN.

Other quarterbacks with comparable resumes have received far more lucrative deals this offseason.

Phillip Rivers, 38, signed a contract for $25 million for one season to play with the Indianapolis Colts.  Nick Foles, after a trade to the Chicago Bears, renegotiated the contract he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and got a deal worth up to $24 million for three years – of which $21 million is guaranteed.  Another 31-year-old quarterback, Ryan Tannehill agreed to an extension worth up to a four-year $118 million with the Tennessee Titans after a promising playoff run last season.

“How many former League MVPs have had to sign for the min? (Asking for a friend.) just ridiculous. A transcendent talent and less talented QBs are getting 15/16m a year. Disgusting,” tweeted  San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner also called the deal “ridiculous.”

“Cam is better than many guys making more $$$ than him, Im just saying I’ve been there & understand How league works… now I hope Cam goes and proves the league wrong!!” Warner tweeted.
