On what it means to be a champion in 2020:

It’s about resilience and honor and personally sacrifices. It’s about being a champion of mental health and being a champion for humanity.

On his artistic growth since the release of his 2011 solo debut “Genesis”:

The journey has been therapeutic. When I’m recording, a floodgate of emotions that I don’t express necessarily all the time, come out into the song, and I can look back and  see myself and appreciate who I am as a person and individual, and also, acknowledge different parts of myself being okay with it.

On technology in the age of COVID-19:

Well, especially during times like this and a lot of artists are not able to share their talents with fan. New technology is making us able to reach the fans and give them entertainment and have them share in our art world. There’s so much new technology, like Zoom concerts, the holograms. It’s the best thing for an artist to reach the fans.

On Social Media:

I love social media and I love being able to connect with my fans. But if you’re overdoing it it could kill the mystery of an artist. I’m able to connect with my fans and share my music and pieces of my life and fans can learn more about the process of me and my life and my workspace.

On his bucket list:

This is a very special song to me. So I’m thinking about, who am I not reaching? Who needs this at this moment to keep them happy? I’ve seen from fans and even close friends, that this song has saved their lives. Some people have been depressed and thought about hurting themselves. Some people have saved their relationships because of this song. I’ve very grateful to have an outlet like social media for fans to share. It’s like a fan letter.

On his relationship with fans:

I love seeing what the fans are saying, I love seeing what they respond to and what the don’t respond to and what I can do to be better for them. They’re my world. I love them. I gotta make sure that I know how to make them happy and what’s making them happy.
