Sister of Breonna Taylor Speaks Out on What Would Have Been Her 27 Birthday [VIDEO]

Breonna Taylor-2

*Breonna Taylor’s sister is speaking out on what would have been her 27th birthday on June 5.

Taylor was gunned down inside her Louisville home March 13, during a botched police drug raid.

“It’s so weird that her birthday is Friday and she is not getting on my last nerve talking about: Does this match? Does this look right? Am I going to look cute for my birthday?” her younger sister, Juniyah Palmer, told VICE News. “She’s not here. It’s upsetting.”

She also shared with the outlet what it’s like to hear people around the world chant her sisters name.

As EUR previously reported, on March 13, Louisville police officers executing a no-knock warrant in the middle of the night, raided her apartment as part of a “narcotics investigation.”

Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired a shot thinking an intruder was breaking in.

The bullet reportedly struck Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly in the femoral artery. Officers then fired off multiple shots, hitting Taylor eight times. Taylor died on the scene. No drugs were found in her apartment.

Walker, a licensed gun owner, was inside the apartment at the time and shot at officers when they attempted to enter without announcing themselves, according to the lawsuit. He was not injured in the incident, but was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and attempted murder for striking a police officer when he fired one shot out of Taylor’s apartment.

Walker has maintained he thought he was shooting at intruders, not police.

On May 22, Commonwealth’s Attorney Tom Wine announced that his office will move to dismiss the case against Walker, after the police “woefully misled” the grand jury in the case.

“The picture presented to the grand jury completely mischaracterizes the events that took place at Ms. Taylor’s apartment and result in Ms. Taylor’s death,” Walker’s attorney Rob Eggert said in the motion he filed asking for the charges to be dismissed.

“I believe that additional investigation is necessary,” Wine said, noting that the grand jury should have seen more information before deciding to indict Walker.
